Every login, every request, every page view carries the IP it came from. LinkedIn builds a picture from that:

- Geography mismatch: a profile that says “based in Berlin” logging in from an IP in Mumbai, then Chicago, then São Paulo within a day or two, screams automation or a hijacked account.
- IP reputation: addresses that have been used for spam, scraping, or prior abuse carry a bad score before you send a single request.
None of this requires you to do anything “wrong.” The IP alone can sink a perfectly behaved account.
Why shared and datacenter IPs trigger restrictions
There are two ways the IP layer goes bad.
Shared IPs mean multiple accounts (yours or strangers’) sit behind the same address. With a shared datacenter proxy or a free VPN, you might be sharing with hundreds of other users, some of them spammers whose behavior poisons the IP for everyone on it.
Datacenter IPs are the bigger structural problem. They belong to known hosting ranges (AWS, cheap proxy vendors, server farms), and LinkedIn maintains lists of these ranges because real members don’t browse from a data center, they browse from home Wi-Fi and mobile networks. A datacenter IP is a flag on its own, shared or not.

- Is the proxy residential, not datacenter? (If they dodge this, walk away.)
- Is it dedicated to this profile, or shared across accounts?
- Does the proxy location match the profile’s stated region?
- Is the IP stable (same address each session), not rotating?
- Is an anti-detect browser included to isolate the fingerprint?
- What happens if the profile gets flagged — is there a replacement guarantee?

Can I just use my own home IP for a rented profile?
You can, but it ties the rented profile to your real location and any other accounts you use at home. Worse, when you stop using your home IP and the profile goes back to a proxy, the location jump itself can flag it. A dedicated proxy that the profile uses consistently is cleaner.
Are rotating residential proxies okay for LinkedIn?
No. Rotation means a different IP each session, which to LinkedIn looks like the account is hopping cities or being accessed by multiple people. You want a static dedicated residential IP, not a rotating pool.
